Ava Rani Basu, March 15, 1937; 4 s. and 2 d.; Political and Social Worker and Business Consultant; General Manager and Managing Director, Corporated Bank of India Ltd.; 1938-42; Sales Manager and Top Executive of Bengal Water Proof Works (1940) Ltd. (Duckback) Calcutta for about 30 years; Member, Administrative Council, National Council of Education, Jadavpur University, 1952-57; Commissioner, Calcutta Port Trust, Calcutta, 1962-67; joined Independence movement as a student and participated in 1942 movement; President (i) Mandal Congress (ii) Central Calcutta District Congress Committee and also its General Secretary, Member, All India Congress Committee from 1964; Councillor, Calcutta Corporation, 1952-72; President, Central Calcutta District Congress Committee 1967; Treasurer, West Bengal Congress Committee and Treasurer, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee, 1971-77; presently Chairman, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Industrial Development Cell; Chairman, Peace and Fraternity International, Calcutta; President, Chowringhee Social Welfare Organisation.
