Admission Procedure

Eligibility

Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the four years B.E. degree course should have passed two years of P.U.C. Examinations conducted by the Pre-University Board of Karnataka State or any other Examination recognized as equivalent by the Visveswaraya Technology University and should have obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate of optional subjects.

Infrastructure and Facilities

There are a number of centers carrying out inter-disciplinary research and many collaborative programs exist between the college and other institutions, like IISc, N.A.L, etc. The chemistry department has been recognized as one of the latest research centers in the state of Karnataka. The college is also a program center for IGNOU. Teaching & research work is also amply supported by facilities such as central library with 90,000 volumes of text books and reference books, and an INDUSTRIAL CONSULTANCY AND RESEARCH CENTER. BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) was Founded in the year 1946 by Late Sri. B. M. Sreenivasaiah a great visionary and philanthropist and nurtured by his illustrious son Late Sri. B. S. Narayan. Admission Procedure

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate shall have passed the second year Pre University or XII standard or equivalent examinations held preceding the entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects:- Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Biology and has secured not less than fifty percent (50%) of the aggregate marks in optional subjects with English as one of the language for admission to Engineering & Technology Courses.
Provided further that the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be forty five percent (45%) of aggregate in optional subjects in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes specified in the relevant Government order for the purpose of reservation in respect of Engineering and Technology courses.

Admission Procedure:

Eligibility (B.E.)

  • A candidate who has passed 10 + 2 pattern of examination (equivalent to the two year Pre University in Karnataka) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination is eligible to pursue an undergraduate degree in engineering at MSRIT.
  • The eligibility for admission is 45% in case of General Category and 40% marks in the qualifying examination in case of SC/ST, Category-1 and OBC Category candidates. The marks obtained by the candidate in Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Electronics in the qualifying examination will be considered in the place of Chemistry in case the marks obtained in Chemistry is less for the required aggregate percentage for the purpose of determination of eligibility (and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in respect of engineering/technology courses).
  • Entrance Exam: KEA / COMEDK

Eligibility (B.Arch.)

  • A candidate who has passed 10 + 2 pattern of examination (equivalent to the two year Pre-university in Karnataka).
  • Admission to Five year B.Arch., Course with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level of examination and English is one of the Language.
  • “No candidate shall be admitted to the architecture course unless he / she has passed an examination at the end of the 10 + 2 scheme of examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate of the 10 + 2 level examination”.
  • This provided that the candidate should also appear and secure a minimum of 40% marks in NATA.(Including SC / ST, Category-1, and OBC Category candidates) conducted by the Council of Architecture. NATA to be held on 16-04-2017.

Infrastructure and Facilities:

Hostels

Hostels have spacious rooms with spacious halls for comfortable dining. Indoor and outdoor games facilities are also available. Health center with a senior doctor for consultation and treatment available from Monday to Saturday between 5 pm and 7 pm. Medicines are supplied free of cost. Round the clock security to all blocks in the Hostel. Additional security at blocks occupied by fresher as the college believes in strict policy towards anti ragging. Guest rooms for visitors which are charged according to availability. Cabled/ Wi-Fi internet provided at nominal charges.

Network & Internet Center

Network and Internet Center is where all the important servers are located in a safe and secure place. The data center is air-conditioned with adequate power backup. Internet Gateway is also located here. The institute has an Internet connection of 100Mbps at 1:1 compression on fiber handout. The internet connection is controlled and regulated by using a UTM device contains an antivirus and antispam database.

GYM

The gym is well equipped with a multi-gym, a range of free weights and aerobic equipment. The gym is great for building strength, burning fat, improving general fitness, or for specific sports conditioning. The gym is open to all members of MSRIT. The college gym is maintained by the Department of Sports.

LIBRARY

The Library began its existence in 1962. The library with its modern collection knowledge resources and innovative information services fills an essential role for students, faculty and the surrounding community in their intellectual pursuits. It is a centralized Air Conditioned fully automated library predominantly related to Engineering, Technology, Management and allied subjects. The collection comprises of 127554 volumes of Books with 33160 Titles and 53 National printed Magazines. The Library subscribes to about 8640 full text E-journals from ASCE, ASME,IEL Online (IEEE Journals, Standards and Conf. Proceedings), Springer Link, Taylor & Francis, Elsevier Science Direct, Proquest (Management and Eng.).The E-Books Subscription package includes around 22129 from Taylor & Francis-CRC Netbase & Springer Link & McGrawhill Education. In addition, there are 3720 Bound volumes of journals, 4404 CD’s &DVD’s, 75 Video Cassettes & 1421 IS Standards. All the operations of the Library are automated using Libsys 7 (Release 3.0) software.

Drinking Water Facility

The institute premise is having a number of bore wells in addition to BBMP corporation water facility. The water facility is available for 24 x 7 to all blocks of the institution and all hostels. It is proposed to take-up water treatment plant. RO treated drinking water facility is also provided.

Transport Facility

The institute is situated in the heart of the city and adjacent to Indian Institute of Science (IISc). But still, the institute has provided the bus facility for both staff and students. Three buses with 60 seating capacity each for students and two buses with 45 seating capacity each are provided.

Solar Power Facility

The proposal of solar installation with a 441.6 KVA roof top solar power generation is approved accordingly as per the purchase order placed with M/s Swelect Energy Systems Ltd, company at a cost of Rs. 2 crores 35 lakhs only. The same is being installed by the firm.

Parking Facility

The institute has spacious parking facility which can accommodate 1720 two wheelers and 100 four wheelers. Multi level, wide and sufficient parking places are provided separately for staff and students. 24 x 7 security and CCTV cameras are also installed for all parking places.

Auditoriums

The institute has many state of the art auditoriums. These auditoriums are used for several occasions such as Graduation ceremony, First year inauguration, Fresher’s party, Felicitation functions, Alumni events, Major department level events, and others.

Canteen

MSRIT has two food courts providing ample choice to students. The two full fledged canteens provide hygienic and sumptuous meals both in north Indian and south Indian styles. Quick snacks and fresh fruit juice counters are also available in the canteens.

Common Rooms

Admission Procedure

Admission process for UG programs

  • Admissions are done as per the Government of Karnataka norms and the admission matrix is announced by them.
  • Out of the total seats 45% of the seats are filled by the Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), 30% of seats are filled through Common Entrance Test conducted by Private managements association (COMED-K) and 25% by Management, all by merit.
  • Common entrance test (CET) conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), a state agency for candidates who are domicile of Karnataka for seven years or more.
  • Common test conducted by Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association Authority (i.e. COMED-K) for both Karnataka & Non-Karnataka candidates aspiring for Engineering, Medical and Dental seats.
  • The above admissions are purely based on merit and as per reservation norms laid down by the Government of Karnataka from time to time.
  • The minimum percentage of marks is followed as per AICTE norms.

Infrastructure & Facilities

R.V. College is spread over 51.6 guntas i.e., 21.30hectares. The total built up area is 85360 Sqm with all amenities. Ramps and lifts have been provided to help the differently abled and sick. 90% of the class rooms are provided with multimedia projectors and internet facility. All academic blocks have secured Wi-Fi connectivity.

Food Court

The college Food Court is designed to cater to 1000 students & staff, it is spread over 500 square meters. The college canteen is a place where students congregate to not only eat but exchange views. R.V. College’s Food Court has a modern kitchen where food is steam cooked. The washed dishes are sterilized for hygienic serving. On campus also have an extension food court counter.

Transport

The campus being 12Kms from the heart of the city and more than 20Km from suburban areas of the city, the college provides transportation facility for both students and staff. There are sufficient buses which take care of commutation of about one thousand students. There are two exclusive buses for the staff. The city metropolitan transport service also runs city buses from important areas of city to the college. Some of the BMTC route numbers are 220, 221, 222, 224, 227 etc.

Bank

An on campus banking facility is provided by Kotak Mahindra Bank. The branch is listed as Kotak Mahindra, RVCE branch. It is fully computerized and air conditioned. It caters to the need of 4000 students and staff. The ATM facility is a boon to the hostelites and faculty. The bank takes care of all the college transaction. It also provides EC facility for parents and students to pay fees, hostel charges, mess bill, University fees etc.

Post Office

The campus has a branch post office, with the postal identification as R.V. Vidyaniketan P.O. The post office with an area of around 20 sqm, has the capacity to cater to the large number of inward and outward mails on a daily basis. Post Office also offers the small savings schemes.

Health Center

The campus has an exclusive health Center which is open to all the students and staff from 9 am to 7 pm. An Ambulence is stationed at the Health center to meet any emergencies.

Hostel

A home away from home’, is the concept of hostels in RVCE. R.V. College provide the best possible comfort needed for students. The number of students accommodated in a room depends on the semester. As the concentration and privacy required is more as a student progresses to final year accordingly the accommodation is provided. The primary function of the placement office is three fold, the first and foremost is creating awareness about the placement process through a series of awareness programmes. The next task is to train them to face the forthcoming placement seasons through a set of placement training through experts in the sector. The last but the most important function is to streamline the recruitment as per convenience of students and recruiters. The placement process begins with Pre- Placement talks by companies, usually scheduled in the month of August and the recruitment process commences from the month of September. Selection Process

Candidates shall be selected for admission based on marks in qualifying plus two examination and marks scored in Engineering Entrance Examination (BSAUEEE) conducted by the University.

Primary health care center takes care of the health of the students. All students in hostels are checked regularly on monthly basis by the doctors of the university hospital. The university hospital has full-fledged hospital facilities with ICU and emergency care for 24 hours. An ambulance is always standby for any medical emergency. All medicines and investigation are provided free of charge to all students and faculty.

Infrastructure:

Engine and chassis components Laboratory

To enhance the practical knowledge of the students, engines from some renowned industries are displayed (Ashok Leyland, Ford etc.). The various components of an automobile are also displayed (clutch, gearbox etc.). In this lab, the students will study about the basic principle involved in chassis components and engine components. And the students will perform various experiments like dismantling and assembling of engine and chassis components.

Engine and vehicle testing laboratory

As failure is stepping stone to success , it is rightful to say testing is the important quality of the vehicle. Hence this lab consists some eddy current dynamometers of various capacities, exhaust analyzers and a two/three /four wheelers chassis dynamometers. It is a great honor for us to say that we are the only Educational institute to have the chassis dynamometer in India. The Students will come to know about the basics of how the engine and the vehicles are tested in the companies.

Automotive Electronics Laboratory

These days all automobiles are becoming electronically equipped. So students have to learn about these electronic techniques. In this automotive electronics lab the equipments available are a stepper motor interface, a LVDT module, DC servo motor system, ADC & DAC interface board, High speed PCI based data acquisition system, etc. Students have to do a Mini project (regarding Electronics) in this lab.

Automotive design and analysis laboratory

Design and analyzing of components is the key factor for engineering which is done in this lab. This lab consists of nearly 50 computers with latest configurations. Designing and simulating software’s are used for designing and analyzing.

The admission of students to all the programmes is through a Single Window Admission System, administered by Anna University. Central Glass Blowing Section:

The section is equipped with sophisticated glass and quartz blowing equipments such as horizontal, cum vertical lathe, universal lathe, grinding machine and glass strain deduction apparatus. The unit can undertake jobs to construct high vacuum glass apparatus and other related glass blowing works. On a regular basis the unit is making high vacuum stop-cocks, interchangeable ground glass joints, cryogenic and high vacuum glass systems and other types of complicated glass and quartz apparatus.

Sophisticated Analytical Instruments Facility:

The Sophisticated Analytical Instruments Facility (SAIF), formerly known as RSIC, was established by Department of Science and Technology (DST). This is the first among the seven RSIC’s established subsequently by DST. The purpose of establishing these centres is to provide data collection facility from sophisticated analytical equipments to scientific community for their advanced research with nominal charges. The facility has grown into a major centre for spectral measurements, molecular and crystal structure determination and materials characterization.

Central Workshop:

Central Workshop was established in 1958 at IIT Madras as part of Mechanical Engineering Department with the support of Federal Republic of Germany by funding Rs.1.25 Cores. It has a floor area of about three hundred square meters. Central Workshop was started with the association of (late) Professor Lechner of the Technical University of Stuttgart. It was planned to set up shop facilities to impart training for B.Tech students in various shop floor techniques and fabrication. In the year 1961 – 62, only Carpentry, Fitting, Gear and Machine Shops were started, later Foundry, Welding, Electrical, Hot – working, Workshop Stores, Auto Shop, Instrument Shop, Tool Room and Gear Inspection, Numerically Controlled (NC) machines, Pneumatic & Hydraulic trainers, Electronics, FRP and Plastic Laboratories, Communication laboratories were installed to offer workshop training. Auto shop was started for the purpose of Maintenance of the buses and Institute vehicle. In the year 2001, this central workshop received ISO 9001:2000 quality certification from RWTUV, Germany.

To take admission in Engineering branches students need to attend the counseling process. All candidates who have appeared in JEE (Main) 2017 are eligible to register for seat allocation in NIT. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions.
